Description
Broad, flat clusters of bright pink flowers make Hylotelephium spectabile (Brilliant Group) Brilliant a clear late-season feature for sunny borders. The small star-shaped flowers gather in dense heads above sturdy, gray-green foliage and draw bees and butterflies from late summer into fall. Older flower heads deepen toward red-brown and may be left standing for winter color.
This clump-forming perennial grows best in full sun and well-drained neutral or alkaline soil. It suits flowering borders, gravel gardens, wildlife plantings, and outdoor containers. Once established, it tolerates dry conditions, but rich or wet ground can weaken the stems and encourage root rot.
All parts contain toxic compounds and should not be eaten. Place the plant where people will not mistake it for food.
