Description
Sedum Firecracker makes a vivid, weed-suppressing groundcover with glossy cherry-red foliage from spring through fall. Dense pink flower heads rise above its tight, nonflopping mounds in late summer and early fall.
Plant it in full sun in lean to moderately fertile, sharply well-drained soil. Water regularly during the first growing season, then reduce frequency after the roots establish and avoid overwatering, especially in containers.
Only about 15-20 cm tall and 30-45 cm wide, it fits border edges, rock gardens, green walls, and shallow pots. Cut back faded stems for a tidy shape, or leave the seedheads for winter structure and remove old growth in spring.
