Description
Yucca flaccida Golden Sword is a compact, stemless evergreen shrub that forms architectural clumps of lance-shaped leaves, each marked by a broad cream-yellow center and blue-green margins. Mature plants send erect late-summer panicles of creamy-white bell-shaped flowers above the foliage. Grow it in full sun and freely drained loam or sand, where it tolerates heat and dry periods once established. The strong variegation suits gravel gardens, courtyards, containers, and low-maintenance borders. Yucca contains saponins that are toxic to pets, and the pointed leaves can injure skin or eyes, so place it away from narrow paths.
