Description
Polemonium reptans Touch of Class keeps shaded garden edges fresh with ferny green leaves bordered in white. Soft blue to pink bell-shaped flowers rise above the compact mound and support pollinators. The rounded clump fits woodland beds, underplanting, and cool garden edges without spreading aggressively. Mature plants reach about 15 inches tall and 18 inches wide.
Grow it in partial shade, light shade, or cool morning sun. Keep the soil evenly moist and avoid drought stress. Top-dress lightly with compost in spring and avoid heavy fertilizer. Remove spent flower stems after blooming in late spring or early summer, then clear tired leaves later in the season. Divide carefully in spring when renewal is needed. Check fresh growth for slugs and snails, and maintain airflow to limit powdery mildew and leaf spot.
