Description
Golden-yellow, slightly rippled leaves rise on contrasting purple-red petioles to form a compact, spreading mound. Pale lavender tubular flowers appear on taller stems in midsummer, while the vivid foliage brings lasting color to shaded edging, woodland borders, and patio containers.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade, with some gentle sun to maintain the brightest yellow foliage. Shelter the clump from cold, drying winds and water before the soil dries for long. Remove spent flower stems as needed, then clear the dead foliage after the plant becomes dormant.
