Description
Crassula ovata Hulk is a compact jade cultivar with large, dark green leaves that curl upward along their smooth margins. Strong branches create a broad, upright outline, while the glossy, fleshy leaves give the plant a clear architectural form.
Place it in bright light, ideally near a south- or west-facing window, and use gritty, freely draining cactus compost. Let the compost dry between waterings, reduce water sharply in winter, and apply diluted liquid fertilizer monthly in spring and summer. Its drought tolerance and moderate growth make it well suited to containers.
No routine pruning is needed, although misplaced stems can be shortened in spring to shape the plant. Stem or leaf cuttings can be rooted after the cut surface has dried. Keep the plant away from cats and dogs because ingestion may cause vomiting, depression, or incoordination.
