Description
Fragrant white flower clusters make Sorbus decora useful in a pollinator garden in late spring. Red fruit follows later and feeds birds and small mammals, while the compound leaves turn yellow to red in fall.
This small tree typically grows about 20 to 30 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide. Ascending branches form an upright oval crown that becomes rounded with age.
Grow it in full sun in moist, acidic, well-drained soil. Keep the root zone cool with mulch, water during establishment and severe drought, and avoid deicing salts and compacted soil.
