Description
Salix integra Hakuro-nishiki is a fast-growing deciduous shrub with a rounded, arching outline. Narrow leaves emerge pink in spring, mature through creamy white and green variegation, and become mostly green as summer advances.
Small yellow catkins appear in spring, while yellow fall foliage gives way to red young stems for winter color. The shrub works especially well beside a pond, in an informal hedge, or as a bright foliage accent in a mixed border.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in fertile soil that stays moist but drains well. Afternoon shade is helpful in hot summers, and consistent moisture supports healthy growth.
