Description
Crispa cutleaf stephanandra spreads into a low, dense cushion of slender arching stems and finely cut green leaves. Airy clusters of small greenish-white flowers appear around early summer, while the foliage brings a vivid orange-red finish in fall. Its outer stems settle close to the ground and root where they touch, helping the planting knit into a soft, natural-looking cover.
Plant Neillia incisa Crispa in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained acid-to-neutral clay, loam, or sand. Water during dry periods, especially while new plants establish. After flowering, shorten long shoots to strong buds and remove some of the oldest stems when an established patch needs renewal.
