Description
Butter-gold flower clusters carry a strong licorice-clove fragrance from late spring into fall on Rosa Absolutely Fabulous. The fully double, cupped blooms fade to a paler yellow as they age above glossy green leaves.
This compact, rounded shrub matures about 30 to 35 inches tall and 20 to 25 inches wide. Plant it in full sun and fertile, moist but well-drained soil for containers, groups, or mixed borders. Butterflies visit the flowers, and the stems also provide useful cuts.
Water deeply during dry periods, feed and mulch in early spring, and feed again in early summer. The stems have sharp prickles, and the ornamental hips should not be eaten; wear gloves when handling the plant.
