Description

Salvia yangii, Russian sage, creates an airy lavender-blue cloud above aromatic silver-gray leaves and upright silvery stems from summer into fall.

This deciduous subshrub grows about 60 to 120 centimeters tall and wide. Plant it in full sun in lean, well-drained loam or sandy soil, and water regularly only while the root system becomes established.

Once established, Russian sage tolerates drought and needs little care. Leave the old stems for winter structure, then cut them back in spring before new growth begins.
