Description
Lysimachia clethroides is a spreading herbaceous perennial with upright green stems, alternate pointed leaves, and long racemes that curve like a goose’s neck. Small white star-shaped flowers crowd the tapered racemes in early summer, and the foliage later turns yellow to brown.
Give the colony room to spread in a moist, humus-rich border, rain garden, or naturalized area. Full sun produces the strongest flowering when the soil stays moist, while partial shade can moderate its vigor. Use a path edge or another firm boundary to contain the rhizomes, and cut back after flowering if self-seeding is unwanted.
