Description

Liatris spicata Floristan White is an upright clump-forming perennial with lance-shaped basal leaves, narrow stem leaves and sturdy flower spikes reaching about one metre. Dense white flowerheads open from the top of each spike downward in summer, providing nectar for butterflies and useful stems for cutting or drying. Grow it outdoors in full sun in average to fertile, moist but freely drained soil. Water during establishment and dry periods, avoid winter waterlogging, deadhead or retain selected seed spikes, and divide congested cormous clumps when dormant.
