Description
Bright, ruffled flowers make Geum Orange Pumpkin a vivid but compact perennial for the front of a border or a patio container. Short, sturdy stems lift masses of pumpkin-orange, semi-double to double blooms above a rounded cushion of fresh green foliage from May into midsummer, with another flush possible in autumn.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Avoid winter waterlogging and do not let the root zone dry severely in summer. Regularly remove spent flowers to keep new buds forming, and divide crowded clumps every three years or so to maintain vigor.
The neat 30-50 cm mound works well along an edge, in a mixed cottage border, or among airy companion perennials. Its flowers can be cut for arrangements, while the long display brings sustained color to containers and pollinator plantings.
