Description
Eupatorium perfoliatum flat white flower clusters feed a broad range of late-summer pollinators. Joined opposite leaves make the sturdy stems immediately recognizable. It matures to about 120 to 180 cm high and 60 to 100 cm wide, giving it a clear role in rain garden. Its white flowers are expected from July, August, September.
Give Eupatorium perfoliatum full sun or partial shade; protect it from avoidable heat or drying wind while roots establish. Keep the soil consistently moist and do not allow the root zone to dry out. Cut old stems to the ground in late winter before new growth appears. Watch for aphids and leaf miners may occur but are usually minor.
