Description
Upward-facing violet-blue and white flowers make Aquilegia caerulea Kirigami Deep Blue and White easy to enjoy from a patio or walkway. Strong stems rise about 14 to 24 inches above a rounded green clump, providing spring color for pollinators and cutting. The coordinated two-tone blooms remain crisp rather than blending into a mixed-color display.
Full sun or partial shade is suitable when soil moisture remains reliable. Keep the crown lightly moist but freely drained and apply compost with a slow-release feed in early spring. Clip spent stems after flowering for tidier foliage, then cut declining leaves to the ground in summer. New plants can be raised from seed.
