Description
Molinia caerulea subsp. caerulea Variegata forms a neat tuft of narrow green leaves striped lengthwise with cream.
Transparent purple-tinged panicles rise above the foliage from midsummer, bringing movement while allowing neighbouring plants to remain visible.
The deciduous leaves turn burnished gold in autumn before collapsing for winter, and the old growth is easily removed before spring.
Grow it in sun or partial shade in consistently moist, fertile, acid to neutral soil that drains freely, with afternoon shade in hotter climates.
