Description
Miscanthus sinensis Zebrinus forms a tall, arching clump of green leaves crossed by distinctive yellow bands. Pink-flushed flower plumes appear from late summer, fade to silver, and remain decorative into winter.
Grow it in full sun and moist but well-drained soil, with protection from excessive winter wet. Use the mature clump as a screen, border accent, large container plant, or source of cut plumes. Cut old foliage and flower stems to the ground in spring. The leaf edges are sharp, so wear gloves when handling the foliage.
