Description
Calamagrostis × acutiflora Overdam forms a compact tuft of narrow green leaves edged in cream. Strong upright stems carry airy silvery-pink to purplish flower panicles in early summer; the plumes narrow and fade tan, remaining architectural into winter.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in fertile soil that stays moist but drains well. Its narrow habit suits mixed borders, containers, slopes, and repeated vertical accents. Cut old growth to the ground before new spring shoots appear, and divide congested clumps in spring.
