Description
Acer freemanii Armstrong brings fast-growing vertical structure to narrow streets, courtyards, boundaries, and formal avenues. Its slim, fastigiate crown rises much higher than it spreads, while deeply cut green leaves turn orange-yellow in fall. Tiny reddish flower clusters open in early spring before the foliage.
This deciduous tree works as a specimen, repeated avenue tree, screen, or windbreak. It tolerates periodically wet soil, established drought, urban pollution, and moderate road salt, and young trees benefit from early structural pruning.
Freeman maple leaves are potentially toxic to horses, so prevent horses from consuming them.
