Description
Dense ascending branches give Taxus × media Hicksii a broadly columnar outline that works especially well for formal hedges and year-round privacy screens. Glossy mid- to dark-green needles cover the upright framework, and established female plants may carry red arils in autumn.
Grow it in sun or shade in any well-drained soil. Water regularly during establishment, avoid waterlogged ground, and trim in summer or early autumn when a formal outline is wanted. The plant contains toxic compounds and should not be eaten; keep clippings away from pets and grazing animals.
