Description
Tall, arching fronds give Osmunda regalis a strong presence beside ponds and in moist woodland plantings. The large deciduous clump carries bipinnate green fronds with rusty-brown spore-bearing tips, then shifts to red-brown tones in fall.
Set it in rich, consistently moist soil in light shade. Full sun is suitable where moisture remains plentiful, and the fern also tolerates poorly drained or very wet ground. Allow enough room for its broad mature form.
