Description

Vinca minor spreads into a low evergreen carpet of glossy dark green leaves, punctuated by blue-violet flowers from mid-spring through late summer. Its trailing stems root as they move across the soil, making it useful on banks, beneath shrubs, and in shaded spaces.

Grow it in moist, well-drained soil in sun or shade, and water consistently in sunnier positions. Cut back unwanted growth in early spring to keep the mat within bounds. It can spread aggressively, so contain it and check local guidance before planting. All parts are harmful if eaten; keep the plant away from children and pets.
