Description
Celebrity Peony is an upright, bushy herbaceous perennial valued for its dramatic two-tone flowers. Large, double blooms open in late spring and early summer, layering deep raspberry-pink petals around a full tufted center of white and pink petaloids. The spicy fragrance and sturdy stems make the flowers especially useful for cutting, while divided dark green foliage keeps the clump attractive through the growing season.
Grow it in fertile, humus-rich soil that stays moist but drains freely. Choose full sun for the strongest flowering, or provide partial shade in a sheltered east-, south-, or west-facing position. Set the crown shallowly, with the buds just below soil level, and allow about 90 cm between plants for airflow and mature spread.
Use Celebrity Peony as a colorful anchor in a mixed border, cottage garden, or dedicated cutting garden. Water during dry periods without saturating the crown, and top-dress with compost in spring or fall. Remove faded flowers after the display, leave the foliage to feed the crown through summer, and cut it down after it dies back in autumn.
