Description
Clematis Mevrouw Le Coultre is a vigorous deciduous climber reaching about 8 to 13 feet tall and 5 to 8 feet wide. Twining leaf stalks carry mid- to dark-green foliage across a wall, pergola, or sturdy trellis, making a strong vertical garden feature.
Single, star-shaped white flowers can reach about 8 inches across. Their broad segments show deeply ridged central bars around a conspicuous boss of golden stamens. Bloom begins in early summer and may continue or repeat into early fall, creating a luminous display against the darker foliage.
Plant in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, setting the crown 2 to 3 inches deep and keeping the roots cool. Follow pruning group 2 for the classic flowering pattern.
