Description
Picea abies Little Gem forms a squat, rounded cushion of short, dense needles. Dark green foliage carries brighter green new growth in spring, while the very slow growth keeps the plant compact for rock gardens, city courtyards, gravel beds, and outdoor containers.
Over its long maturity period, this evergreen conifer reaches about 5 to 20 inches tall and wide. Give it full sun and moist but well-drained acid or neutral soil. Shelter it from cold, drying winds. No pruning is required.
