Description
Scarlet red fall foliage makes Euonymus alatus Compactus a strong seasonal focal point for a shrub border, foundation planting, informal hedge, or screen. Its dense, multi-stemmed growth matures into a broad rounded to spreading shrub, with corky ridges along the branches and small capsules that open to show orange-coated seeds.
Plant it in full sun or partial shade and provide average, well-drained soil. Full sun gives the strongest fall color. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season, then reduce watering as the root system establishes. Avoid soggy sites and apply fertilizer in early spring.
