Description
Lithodora diffusa Grace Ward creates an intense blue flower carpet across a low evergreen mat. Small star-shaped blooms stand out clearly against gray-green leaves in spring and summer. The compact trailing growth fits rock gardens, gravel beds, patio containers, and flat edging. Foliage continues to cover the ground after the main display.
Choose full sun and acidic, sharply drained soil. Add a small amount of compost only to poor sandy ground and avoid rich fertilizer. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Trim gently after flowering if shaping is needed, without cutting into old woody stems. Semi-hardwood cuttings keep the cultivar true, while good drainage protects the roots from damping off and rot.
