Description
Moonshine Yarrow forms a neat mound of feathery silver-gray-green foliage, sending up upright branching stems topped by broad, flat corymbs of small bright yellow flowers. The long display begins in late spring and can continue into early fall, bringing a clear lemon-yellow accent to gravel gardens, cottage borders, prairie-style plantings, and cut-flower beds.
Grow it in full sun in moist but well-drained or well-drained chalk, loam, or sandy soil. It tolerates dry conditions once established but performs poorly in heavy, wet winter ground. Divide established clumps in spring, cut back untidy foliage in spring, and remove spent heads to encourage rebloom. The flowers attract pollinators, while the plant is valued for cutting and deer resistance. This plant is toxic if eaten by pets and grazing animals; keep it out of their reach.
