Description

Golden-yellow branches sweep toward the ground beneath the broad crown of Salix sepulcralis var. chrysocoma. Narrow leaves emerge yellow-green in spring, mature to green, and turn yellow in fall. Yellow April catkins provide food for bees.

This large deciduous tree suits spacious pond margins, streamside gardens, and other sunny sites with consistently moist soil. Allow ample room for the crown and keep its spreading roots away from drains and hard surfaces. Water deeply during establishment, mulch in spring, and remove damaged or crossing branches in winter when necessary.
